About us:
Jay and Dustin met several years ago in early recovery. The two immediately made a connection based on raw honesty, mutual excitement for their recovery and a shared solution of the Program of Action outlined in the literature of their specific Twelve Step Fellowship. Although not known to either of them at the time, this connection would transform their lives in ways they ultimately could never have dreamed possible.
Relating in Recovery was born August 28, 2019, on a beautiful sunny morning while Jay was grieving his Mom, Veronica. He had a thought that he'd like to connect with like-minded people who may share the same feelings and challenges that would lay ahead. At the same time, he continued to navigate these murky waters and all of life's other challenges.
Jay and Dustin, identifying as drug addicts and alcoholics, have pioneered this group since infancy together. The result was a host of many individuals who joined the group and identified in similar ways. Thus, resulting in a platform where we can discuss, challenge, enlighten and encourage each other in our continued growth. What they found was that challenges come in a variety of streams. Many more people had a need for connection and healing, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic, when their visions became much clearer. Jay and Dustin started to have visions of more prominent and more helpful solutions going forward. The two aspired to find a way to reach more people, share more solutions, provide more hope, and still maintain the principles of humility and honesty.
Jay and Dustin had begun a Nightly Review group out of a need for connection. This group proved to be unique in so many ways and effectively connected people, which opened the door for a collective change in lives that will forever be etched in our realities. They were thus led to how the Podcast of the same name was born! Once they had begun recording episodes for season 1 of the Podcast, more and more opportunities became available.
Today, they believe that their Higher Power led them into a territory that will continue to allow connection and growth. This territory connects and inspires others to get well on whichever journey of recovery or personal challenges they face in two key aspects: connection and hope.
We at Relating in Recovery are thrilled at watching our dreams become realities! We hope that you find the love, support, information, and connection you need through several of our RnR platforms available: our Facebook group Relating in Recovery and our Podcast, Relating in Recovery, can be found on Spotify and Apple platforms, and of course, the RnR domain you are presently visiting. www.relatinginrecovery.com
